Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
Effective 18 October 2026. This is the current version. It replaces the version dated 15 September 2026.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Targetry ("the App") handles information when you use it. The App is operated by:
Aleksas Sulnius Email: info@targetryapp.com
Targetry is distributed through Google Play. This policy applies to the App and to the server that supports it. The current version is always published at https://targetryapp.com/privacy/, and a summary of it is shown in the App at Settings -> Privacy Policy.
2. An account is required
Targetry does not work anonymously: you sign up with an email address and a password. The password is never stored in plain text - it is salted and hashed (PBKDF2-HMAC) before it reaches our database, so we cannot read or recover it ourselves.
If you request a password reset or verify your email address, we send a one-time code to the address you gave us and use it only to complete that action. Codes expire, are single-use, and are never returned anywhere except to your inbox.
3. What we collect and store
- Account information: your email address, your salted and hashed password, the date you accepted this policy, and whether your email address has been verified.
- Target photos and analysis results: every photo you submit is sent to Anthropic's Claude API (Section 5) and then stored on our server - both the original photo and the marked-up copy - together with the scoring it produced and the date, tied to your account, so you can browse your history and re-run an analysis later.
- Photos you take in the App: if you use the camera, the App asks for camera permission and captures a photo for analysis. Photos are only taken when you press the shutter, and the App does not read your photo library beyond the file you explicitly pick.
- Shooting session details: the session name, firearm, and ammunition labels you type in, and the physical width of your target sheet if you supply it (used only to convert group size into millimetres).
- Notes you write: any note you attach to a target. Notes are stored as typed, shown only back to you, and never sent to the analysis model.
- Plan and allowance records: which plan your account is on, how many analyses you have used and have left, when the allowance resets, and a dated history of every plan or credit you were granted or charged for, including the amount. You can read that history yourself in the App at Settings → Plan & credit history.
- Subscription purchase records: if you subscribe, Google Play gives the App a record of the purchase, and our server keeps: the purchase token Google issues for it, the Google Play order number, which plan and billing period you bought, its status (active, cancelled, ended), its start and expiry dates, whether it is a test purchase, and when you confirmed in the App that the plan should start straight away (Terms, Section 9.10). With each purchase the App gives Google a one-way coded identifier derived from your internal account number - not your email address - so that a purchase can only ever be claimed by the account that made it. Card and other payment details never reach us (Section 4).
- Feedback you send: if you use "Send Feedback", the message you write is emailed to us along with your email address, your internal account number, your plan, and the App version, so we can understand and answer the report.
- Basic server logs: as with any web service, our hosting provider records standard request information such as IP address, timestamp, and endpoint, for security and operational purposes. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
We do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, precise location, or payment details.
4. Payments
Subscriptions are bought through Google Play's billing system, and only there. Google - not Targetry - takes the payment and handles your card or other payment details, under Google's own privacy policy and the Google Payments privacy notice. We never see or store them.
What we do receive is the purchase record described in Section 3, and we use it only to:
- confirm with Google that the purchase is genuine and belongs to your account, before giving you the plan - our server asks Google directly rather than trusting the App;
- give you the plan you paid for, and keep it in step with Google: renewing it when Google renews your subscription, showing when a cancelled one ends, and ending it when Google refunds or revokes the purchase;
- confirm the purchase to Google, which Google requires; and
- send you one confirmation email for a new subscription, setting out what you bought, how to cancel it, and the acknowledgement you gave about the plan starting straight away.
We do not use purchase records for advertising, profiling, or anything else.
5. Third parties who process your data
- Anthropic (Claude API) - every photo you submit for analysis is sent to Anthropic's API to locate the shots and score the group. Anthropic processes it to return that result to us. Anthropic states that it does not use data submitted through its API to train its models; see Anthropic's privacy policy and API terms for how they handle submitted data and how long they retain it.
- Our hosting provider - the App's server, database, and stored photos run on a third-party cloud host, which stores that data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.
- Our email provider - used to deliver verification codes, password-reset codes, subscription confirmations, and your feedback messages.
- Google Play - distributes the App and provides us with aggregate, non-identifying statistics such as install counts and crash reports. For subscriptions, Google is also the payment provider: it takes the payment and processes your payment details itself, and tells our server the status of your purchase when we ask (Section 4).
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Information may be disclosed if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Targetry or others.
6. Data retention and deletion
Your photos, results, notes, and session details are kept until you delete them:
- Deleting a target removes both of its photos from our server and its result from your history.
- Deleting a shooting session removes the session and everything recorded on it, including the firearm and ammunition. The targets filed under it are kept - they move out of that session and show group sizes as percentages rather than millimetres, because the sheet width those measurements were calculated from was part of the session you deleted.
- Deleting your account removes, immediately and completely: your account record, your email address, your password hash, every target photo and result, every note, every shooting session including the firearm and ammunition you entered, any unused analysis credits, any outstanding verification or reset codes, all your login sessions, and the subscription purchase records that tied your Google Play purchases to your account.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. The subscription lives in Google Play and is cancelled there (Play Store → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions); cancel it before deleting your account if you do not want it to renew.
You can delete your account from inside the App at Settings → Account → Delete account. If you cannot access the App, email info@targetryapp.com from the address the account uses and we will delete it for you.
Every one of these routes - deleting individual targets, notes, sessions, or the whole account - is also written up at https://targetryapp.com/delete_account/, which needs no login to read.
Two records are kept afterwards, for accounting rather than about you:
- a log of each analysis run - when it ran, how much processing it used, and what it cost us - so we can monitor and pay our own service costs; and
- a log of changes to plans and allowances - what was granted, added, refunded or ended early, any amount charged, and for a subscription the Google Play order number - so entitlements and payments can be audited, as accounting and tax rules require. This is the same record shown back to you in the App under Settings → Plan & credit history.
Neither contains any photo, score, note, firearm, or shooting result. Both reference an internal account number rather than your email address, and once the account is deleted that number no longer identifies you or anyone else.
Whoever operates the App's server can access the underlying files and database directly, as with any self-hosted service. Your history is never shown to another user of the App, but it is not end-to-end encrypted against the operator.
7. International data transfers
Our hosting provider and Anthropic may process your data in a country other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where applicable law requires a specific safeguard for such a transfer, we rely on the lawful mechanisms our providers make available, such as their own compliance with Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Security
Passwords are salted and hashed and never stored or transmitted in plain text. Traffic between the App and our server is protected with HTTPS. Login sessions can be ended by logging out, and a successful password reset invalidates every existing session on every device. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information you submit.
9. Advertising, tracking, and analytics
The App shows no ads, uses no advertising identifier, and contains no third-party analytics, attribution, or behavioural tracking SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
10. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live, if that is higher). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at info@targetryapp.com and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. You can do most of this yourself in the App: edit or delete your shooting sessions, clear a note by saving it empty, delete individual targets or several at once, or delete your account entirely, which removes everything described in Section 6 immediately. You can also save any analyzed target - the marked-up photo and its scores - to your own device as an image.
For anything else, contact info@targetryapp.com. If you are in the EEA or the UK and believe we have not handled your request properly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. The current version is always available inside the App and wherever the App is listed. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will say so in the App before it takes effect. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
